Welcome. Find the answers to the most often asked questions here.
Q: Where and when do you fly?
A:We fly in several different places depending on the day.
Thursday Afternoons and most weekends you can find us at Emeny Field. (see map below)
Some weekdays we fly at Rutland Sports Field. (also see map below)
Q:Are these models expensive? And where can I find one? How do I get into this sport?
A:Well yes and no. Depends on the brand and size you get… like anything, you get what you pay for. A good setup for a first time’r could cost you anywherefrom $500.00- $1000.00 with radio and batteries, etc. Some of the bigger models can be upwards of $3000.00 all together. So be aware, they are not TOYs.
You can find them at your local Hobby Store, or online stores.
Your best place to start is at the Local RC Flying Club. Ask lots of questions, and start off with a good computer simulator (will save you the price of it in crash parts right away) and learn to fly on that while you build and setup your first kit. (don’t be afraid to ask other guys for help on that one.) Remember, practice makes… less crashes (not perfect)
Q:Are they easy to fly?
A:Not at first. The help of a computer simulator speeds up the process and lowers the cost of learning. (it’s not a matter of if you are going to crash, but when and how bad!!) Even the top pros crash sometimes.
